Flag Day
June 14 2009

Flag Day is celebrated in our country on the 14th day of June.  The La Junta Elks Lodge celebrates this occasion with a Flag Ceremony and retirement of old and worn flags.  For the last couple of years the lodge has held this in the Santa Fe Plaza with the assistance of Boy Scout Troop 212 from Cheraw.  This year the event was attended by over 75 of our local citizens.  As a highlight to this years event, riders with the Best of America By Horseback attended the ceremony.  One of the riders, Paula Nobles-Fraley is a Lt colonel in the Army Reserves and had recently returned from Iraq.  She was deeply touched by the ceremony hosted by the Elks and shared with a local Scout troop. Truly a special event this year!
